Her charm and cheer are matched equally by her knowledge and passion.
Challenging herself and making sure that her skills are being utilized for betterment are her number one goals. Amanda currently resides as the City Manager of Watertown, South Dakota. However, she began her work life pounding pavements in a humbler fashion.
“I just want to leave this world a better place than I found it.”
She continues, “That means being committed to raising kind and thoughtful kids, being involved in my community, and working hard to improve my little corner of the earth while I can.”
THE FIRST PRINCIPLE SHE LIVES BY
“Start where people are at, not where we want them to be.”
When I find myself frustrated with a project, program, teammate, etc. I often have to remind myself that people are where they are, and it’s my job as a leader to bring them along on whatever journey we are part of and to not make assumptions about them. If they’re not where I want them to be, then it's my responsibility to get them there, and that takes time.
SECOND IS GRACE
“Give it as freely and as often as you can.
And welcome it with open arms when someone gives it to you.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
“Never miss the opportunity to tell people you care.”
Tell the people around you, (whether that’s your family, your friends, or your coworkers,) how much you care about them. Life is too short for people to not know they matter and are appreciated.
